Writer / Director / Executive Producer

When I was 23, I married the love of my life, graduated university, started my first TV production job in Dallas, then quit to start a new adventure in Boulder, Colorado.

Determined to not go back to waiting tables, I knocked on door after door of production companies and news stations in Denver and finally got a break at KMGH-TV, as a PA. I learned how to write, produce and even report the news with some of the most talented professionals in the field.

I haven’t stopped moving forward since.

In 1992, I was recruited by KABC-TV in Los Angeles  - a dream offer. I promised my reluctant husband it would only be for 5 years and then we could go back to Colorado, live in an A Frame in the mountains and ski on the daily.

But life has a way of taking you down unexpected paths and we are still in Los Angeles today. My life has been a mix of co-parenting 2 amazing kids while working my way up the ranks of unscripted television: documentaries, reality competition, dating, crime, docu-soap, even scripted podcasts.

I’ve traveled the world, worked with celebrities, lectured at universities and won awards including a coveted Emmy which sits on my living room mantle.

When the pandemic hit I finally had time to stop and rest and reflect on my career and my life.

A career in Television has a way of sucking you in. It’s an adrenaline rush. It offers you travel, camaraderie, creativity, fun, excitement, as well as decent financial compensation. Eventually, it becomes an addiction you just can’t quit.

You try to leave and nothing else fills the void of creating something the entire world might see. When it works out, it’s the highest of highs.. when it doesn’t .. it’s the lowest of lows.

That’s because we identify with our careers and this career is a demanding mistress. You have to know people to get in the door and when you’re in the club you feel special but you are only as good as your last “show.” So the pressure is on.  It’s a high stress, unforgiving environment; emotional and dramatic while highly technical. There’s no room for error. Budgets are always tight, schedules are tighter. There’s never enough time or money to get it perfect.. so we donate our own time and energy to make it come out right.

And we do that because we LOVE it. My idea of fun this past year was to write my first feature film.

Producing or creating, whether it’s in front of the camera or behind, writing or directing, working with talent, production managing.. it’s all in our blood. It’s who we are.

We are warriors. We are focused, dependable, loyal, persistent, tenacious, skilled, and innovative thinkers.

When people ask what I do as a showrunner or producer? I describe it as project management for the TV industry.

I CREATE

I ORGANIZE

I MOTIVATE

I INSPIRE

I GUIDE

I DELIVER on time and on budget

This year I’m open to pivoting out of the industry, but I will always tackle any project with the same intensity and attention to detail as I would a TV show. I’m excited to see what comes my way.
